It’s been a lot of talk for a few years that I said I’d ride across the country. After jaunts from Pittsburgh to DC, Buffalo to Albany, and from Oregon to California, not to mention a handful of overnighters (S24Os), I got the itch. Bad.
When I was 25, shortly after I moved to Chicago, I made a third-beer promise to myself that I’d do the trip before I turn 30. Before I knew it, 29 rolled around, and the decision was made all that much easier. Sometimes, as journalist Brian Stelter would say, the greatest inspiration is the deadline.
Follow me along the ride of summer 2015, beginning in Yorktown, Va., and ending (as of May) in Santa Cruz, Calif. Links to other aspects of the ride are in the sidebar menu.
